Perthshire and The Highlands

Take a deep breath when you arrive. The first taste of Highland air is the beginning of a unique vacation experience. Now, relax and enjoy yourself.
Wherever you stay in this area, most of the Scottish Highlands are within reach, whether it be Aviemore and the Cairngorms, the Speyside distilleries, the magic of Skye to the west, the Black Isle to the north or Royal Balmoral and Royal Deeside. You are assured of Highland hospitality wherever you go. Play golf where you want, do what you want, any time you want. That's what you're here for.

Up here they say 'Ceud Mille Failte' which means A Hundred Thousand Welcomes.

We can offer a wide range of accommodation from luxury hotels to comfortable bed and breakfasts.

Golfers from all over the world use this area as a centre being within easy driving distance of some of the world's most famous courses, for example Gleneagles and St. Andrews. However this area has many lesser known courses, the quality of which would bring envy elsewhere. We can offer a range of challenges to suit everyone.

As well as golf, Perthshire and Speyside are famous for fishing. Anglers can test their skills on lochs and reservoirs or on some of Scotland's finest salmon and trout rivers.

Perthshire brings together everything that is good about golf in Scotland. No fewer than 25 clubs welcome visitors, and the quality ranges from the championship to sporting 9-hole courses all enjoying beautiful settings. Magnificent mountains and jewel-like lochs proliferate an area with a rich historical background. Ancient monuments such as Blair Castle and Scone Palace are steeped in the history of Scotland and are a must for the visitor. Picturesque rural areas with an abundance of wildlife flourishes in the unspoiled countryside. Look out for deer, the rare osprey (Loch of Lowes) or even the golden eagles. Perthshire is best enjoyed in the open air and if you feel like a change, rent a bicycle or try pony trekking.

Below is only a small selection of the many excellent courses to play in Perthshire & The Highlands of Scotland.

Blairgowrie - Rosemount Golf Course Blairgowrie, Perthshire
18 holes - 6588 yards - SSS72
A magnificent golf course with parkland setting. Every hole played through an avenue of trees and regarded by many as the premier inland course in Scotland. If you visit this area try not to miss the opportunity, but starting times are limited, so make sure you book early.

Gleneagles Auchterarder, Perthshire
Kings Course - 6125 yards - SSS71
Queens Course - 5660 yards - SSS67
Monarchs Course - 6134 yards - SSS71
A truly magnificent setting for golf. There are two 18 hole courses, the Kings and the Queens with an adjoining 'Wee' course. Another 18 hole championship course, the Monarchs was designed by Jack Nicklaus. However the courses are only for hotel patrons. The Kings course a par of 70 and 6471 yards is the showpiece of the area. The course was designed by James Braid and almost every hole is in a supreme setting with panoramic views of the surrounding hills. To play at one of the finest sporting complexes in the world doesn't come cheap, but it is worth a once-in-a-lifetime visit.

Royal Dornoch Golf Club, Dornoch, Sutherland
18 holes - 6577 yards - SSS72
This is the 3rd Oldest golfing town in the world after St. Andrews and Leith, with records dating back to 1616. When played by Tom Watson and Ben Crenshaw they both said it was one of the finest courses they had ever played. Designed by Tom Morris it has become a shrine, and has 200 overseas members from the USA alone. Only because of its remoteness has Dornoch not been considered a venue for the Open Championship.

Nairn Golf Club, Nairn
18 holes - 6556 yards - SSS71
Is regularly used for National Competitions such as the Scottish Professional Championships and Northern Open and is a perennial favourite with visitors.

Pitlochry Golf Course Pitlochry, Perthshire
18 holes - 5811 yards - SSS68
The first 3 holes provide the golfer with a steep uphill struggle. However after this, the breathtaking scenery makes up for all the effort. The course is certainly worth a visit.
