The North East Carnoustie

Whether you are a golfer visiting Scotland's North East playing two rounds of golf every day, or an a Scottish vacation and want to take some time to play golf, Scotland's North East has a wealth of attractions to offer, and especially in summer, there is a full programme of events including Highland Games, festivals, vintage vehicle rallies and agricultural shows.

In Dundee the RRS Discovery and the Frigate Unicorn, both steeped in history, are just two of the many attractions worth visiting, while a short drive away is Glamis Castle, the childhood home of Her Majesty The Queen Mother, complete with its own ghost and secret rooms.

The small towns of Montrose and Arbroath are good centres from which to tour the countryside and the Glens of Angus, and both are within easy reach of a great choice of golf courses.

A short drive up the East Coast is Stonehaven. Here you can pick up the first of Grampian's fascinating themed trails. Follow the Victorian Heritage Trail to discover why Queen Victoria loved this area so much. Inland, on Royal Deeside, are the picturesque villages of Banchory, Ballater, Aboyne and Braemar, all of which have excellent golf courses. Popular attractions include the castles of Braemar, Crathes and Balmoral.
