St. Andrews & The Neuk of Fife

A vacation means many things to many people. In St Andrews and North East Fife the unique combination of history, leisure, natural beauty, lifestyle, wonderful golf courses and, above all, friendliness provides visitors of all ages with a vacation to remember.

Unique as a vacation destination, St Andrews is untouched as a place of history, recreation, beauty, and lifestyle. The 'Home of Golf' has played a leading part in Scottish history for centuries. The ancient burgh is without doubt, one of the great historic towns of Europe with visitors coming to the town since the religious pilgrims of the Celtic faith. St Andrews is of course the Patron Saint of Scotland. St Andrews is universally recognized as a golfing Mecca, where the great traditions are steadfastly maintained by the good citizens of the town. Obviously the fame of the Old Course and the vast golfing complex attracts visitors from every corner of the world, making it a very popular destination.

This part of Scotland is full of delightful courses to play, below is only a small selection.

St. Andrews Old Course
St .Andrews New Course
St. Andrews Jubilee Course
St. Andrews Eden Course
Scotscraig Golf Course
Crail Golf Course
Ladybank Golf Course

St. Andrews
St. Andrews, Fife
Old Course 18 holes - 6566 yards - SSS72
New Course 18 holes - 6604 yards - SSS72
Jubilee Course 18 holes - 6805 yards- SSS73
Eden Course 18 holes - 6401 yards - SSS71

The Old Course is a golfing myth retaining the basic original design of playing out and then back in, with many of the green sharing holes played in different halves. However the Old Course used to be played in both clockwise and anti-clockwise directions, with the start and finish beside the clubhouse of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews. The New, Jubilee and Eden courses are very fine tests, offering top league alternatives if the Old is unavailable. The New would almost certainly be classed a championship course if it did not lie in the shadow of her elder sister, and the Jubilee and Eden have been revamped to increase their stature.

Scotscraig Golf Course
Tayport, Fife
18 holes - 6486 yards - SSS69
An Open qualifying course located on the south side of the Tay Estuary near St Andrews it is a classic links course but with several fairways tree lined and others marshalled by imposing gorse.

Crail Golf Course
Crail, Fife - just 5 miles from St Andrews.
18 holes - 5720 yards - SSS68
We highly recommend that you play on this immaculate links course. Only 5720 yards but with an imaginative and tricky layout, this course is one you will remember. Always in good condition with panoramic views of the sea, you will want to come back for more.

Ladybank Golf Course
Ladybank, Fife
18 holes - 6617 yards - SSS72
This is a wooded heathland course with a reputation which is growing every year. The green keeping staff must be complimented on the condition of this quality golf course. Used as an Open qualifier the narrow fairways don't take long to grasp your respect.
